ZAMBIA
Children constitute almost half the population in Zambia. Due to the political situations, social and economic failure, and the family unit breakdown, orphaned children mostly of AIDS are left neglected and uncared for, especially girls.

Reaching Hearts for Kids has two projects in Zambia, which complement each other. The first is the Cook-stove Sponsorship Program for Education and the Environment. This is a program to sponsor fuel-efficient cook-stoves for urban poor in Zambia. The stoves are beneficial to the environment, and the program enables the family to send one orphaned child to school. For more information see our Cook-stove Page.

RHK is also starting a program to help the Needs Day Care Center for Orphans in Lusaka. This organization is providing care for 300 children in the form of education, health care, food, clothing, counseling and skills training at a primary school level. They also provide care to people in the community who are living with HIV, elderly, or facing desperate poverty.
