B. Who We Are:

Reaching Hearts for Kids is the humanitarian outreach of Reaching Hearts International www.reachingyourheart.com, a non-profit 501(c)(3) religious organization located in Spencerville, Maryland. It is our belief as Christians that propels us to reach out to those in need, especially children without regard to race, ethnicity, or religious association.

C. What We Do:

Reaching Hearts for Kids currently provides assistance to children in eight countries, with plans to grow toward other locations around the world. We provide financial help to each child that they may receive proper food, shelter, clothing, education and medical care in nurturing surroundings under the protection of those who will give them the love, hope, and care that every child deserves. Orphans or severely disadvantaged children are placed in healthy environments and supported until they are able to achieve economic independence. Reaching Hearts for Kids works closely with homes for orphans and trusted volunteers in each country in order to ensure that the money and supplies we send go directly to the intended child. In addition to supporting children individually, Reaching Hearts for Kids funds locally-operated projects such as the orphanage in Medan, Indonesia, for children left devastated by the tsunami of December 2004, an orphanage in Ambo Woreda, Ethiopia, that shelters hundreds of children many of whose parents have succumbed to the devastating effects of AIDS, and a home for street children in Nairobi, Kenya.

D. How We Got Started:

Reaching Hearts for Kids was born officially in 2001, when Norma Nashed, our founder and director, first decided to volunteer full-time to provide aid for children in need. She began by sponsoring students in Jordan, where she was raised. Our outreach organization developed under the auspices of Reaching Hearts International, a group that provides services to the local community in Maryland.

With the care, support and generous donations of many, Reaching Hearts for Kids has extended its service far beyond the United States. From sponsoring orphans in Tanzania, to a school in India, we are now providing help to children and communities in eight countries. With your continued help we plan to continue to extend that reach to as many homeless, destitute children whose tragedies have denied them what little they once had, the security and love of their parents.

E. Funding:

Reaching Hearts for Kids is currently funded by the financial gifts of generous individuals and dedicated volunteers around the world.

One dollar a day is all that is required to impact the life of one child. Children struggle to tell the compelling story of the enormity of their loss, confusion, and persisting pain.
